Welcome to Chittoor Govt Servants Co-operative Society LTD

After the First World War, hunger and poverty spread throughout the country, and there was a situation where employees and teachers could not receive even a meager monthly salary properly. A native of Chittoor, Kegramam, who was the Secretary of the Cooperative Department under the Madras government, took the initiative and convinced the teachers and employees of Chittoor of the need to form a cooperative group to help them during the war crisis. Then, in April 1927, a meeting of staff and teachers decided to form a cooperative group. Registered on April 11, 1927, the group started its activities under the leadership of 12 people, including 7 teachers and 5 employees. Twenty-six people attended the first general meeting and joined at Chittoor High School (now Chittoor CAHSS). Ananta Narayana Iyer served as the first president, and C.S. Narayana Iyer was the secretary. The cost of shares was Rs.5/-, and the minimum loan amount was Rs.40/-. The activity was centered at Chittoor High School from 5 pm to 7 pm during the week.

Later, by the order of the Maharaja of Kochi, the society was granted an indefinite lease of 5 cents for 3 rupees, which is now in operation. In 1958, with the permission of the Chittoor Municipal Corporation, the society expanded its activities by constructing a four-story building.
